Fall is my favorite season of the year. Who doesn’t love the colors of the leaves changing, the brisk NY air, delicious pumpkin EVERYTHING, and of course HALLOWEEN. Halloween has been a favorite of mine for many, many years. I think I love Halloween so much because of the decorating and costumes. Since I had my little guy I don’t decorate all out as I used to but I try to be creative with his costumes. Now the décor is more for him such as pumpkins and the smaller cute stuff, I was thinking this would be a great time for an arts and craft project. So since ghosts aren’t too scary I thought cute little ghosts would be a good idea. There were 2 different types of ghosts that we made. We made some with banners and just some regular little guys.
For this project you will need:
Liquid Starch
Cheesecloth
Pipe Cleaners (optional)
Googley Eyes (optional)
Wax Paper
Mason Jars
Water Balloons
Cardstock

Blow up some water balloons with air and place them in the mouth of the mason jar.
For the ghosts with banners at this point you would take 2 pipe cleaners and wind them around each other to make it sturdy. Then bend in half and stick between the balloon and mason jar. You can shape them differently. We chose to make them look like they are coming in for a BIG hug.
Cut the cheese cloth large enough to cover the balloon, make sure to cut extra so the cheesecloth can drape over the balloon and mason jar and kind of pool onto the table.
Put a piece of wax paper under the mason jars. Get a bowl and pour some liquid starch into the bowl. This is where the little ones get to get their hands dirty. Take the sheet of cheese cloth and have your little one soak it in the liquid starch.

Then squeeze out the excess. Pull it apart so that you have an even layer of the cheesecloth and drape it over the balloon/mason jar set up.
We did this twice to each ghost to make them less translucent.

Let them completely dry then remove from the balloon/jar set. You now have a ghost that can stand all on their own. At this point you can leave it as is or you can do some more to make them pop. We added googly eyes to them and ones that we extended the arms on added a banners to

For the super cute “Bone” letters I went to Michaels in the scrapbook section and found these from Jolees boutique.
